Most students I meet can do more maths than their grade is showing. The marks usually disappear in a few predictable places.
Exam technique
You know the method in class. Then the question is phrased differently, the clock is running, and the marks disappear. Often that's quicker to fix than students expect.
A mock grade that won't move
You keep revising, but the number stays the same. Usually there are recurring gaps or habits costing marks across the paper.
The Exploration
A fifth of the grade, with a lot of freedom. Topic choice, mathematical depth and reflection can set the ceiling much earlier than students realise.

Credentials & Levels
I’m a qualified teacher with QTS, a former Head of KS5, and a University of Oxford graduate. My academic background includes a BSc in Maths and Computer Science, and I teach IB Maths AA and AI at both SL and HL. I’m also a professional member of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

Questions parents and students usually ask
Do you teach all four IB Maths courses?
Yes. I teach Analysis & Approaches (AA) and Applications & Interpretation (AI), at both SL and HL. They're genuinely different courses, so the way I teach an AA HL student is different from the way I'd work with someone taking AI SL.
Will I actually be taught by you?
Yes. I teach every lesson myself. There's no tutor pool and you won't be passed between different teachers. If we work together, you'll have the same person each week who knows what you've covered, where you're losing marks, and what we're working on next.
Does online tutoring work as well as in person?
For IB Maths, it works extremely well. We can work through past-paper questions together on a shared whiteboard, annotate solutions in real time, and lessons can be recorded so you can go back over the working afterwards. All of my tutoring is online, including students based outside the UK.
Can you help with the Maths IA / Exploration?
Yes. I can help with topic choice, mathematical depth, structure, reflection and understanding what the assessment criteria are actually asking for. The Exploration is currently worth 20% of the final IB Maths grade, so getting the direction right early matters.
Do I have to commit to a package of lessons?
No. Lessons are booked individually. There are no packages, no minimum term and no joining fee. If it's helping, we continue. If it isn't, you stop.
